Our Statement of Faith
Our Core Beliefs
1. The Triune God
We believe in one sovereign God, eternally existing in three persons of the Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Although each member of the Trinity serves different functions, they each possess equal power and authority.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” — Matthew 28:19
2. The Authority of Scripture
We believe that the Old and New Testaments of the Bible are the divinely inspired and written word of God. They are accurate in all their principles, provide absolute moral truths for all humankind, and are “profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness” so we may be complete, equipped for every good work.
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” — 2 Timothy 3:16-17
3. Humanity and Sin
We believe God created man and woman in His image as free moral agents, distinct from all other living creatures. However, humanity sinned by rebelling against God’s revealed will and incurred both physical and spiritual death. We acknowledge that all humankind carries its own guilt of sin in thought, word, and deed. While we are not without sin, we believe that those who are in Christ are not under condemnation.
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…” — Romans 3:23
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” — Genesis 1:27
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” — Romans 6:23
4. The Person of Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, and was true God and true man, existing in one person without sin. We believe in the resurrection of His crucified body, His ascension into heaven, and His presence there for us as Lord of all, High Priest, and Advocate.
“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.” — Hebrews 4:15
5. Salvation and Justification
We believe in salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ, who died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a sacrifice, triumphing over all evil. We believe in the existence of Satan, sin, and evil powers and that all these have been defeated by God in the person of Christ on the cross. Those who believe and follow Him are justified by His shed blood and forgiven of all their sins.
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.” — Romans 5:8-9
6. The Ministry of the Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit’s presence assures us of our relationship with Christ. He guides believers into all truth, exalts Christ, and convicts people of their sin, God’s righteousness, and the coming judgment. He comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and makes us more like Christ.
“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth…” — John 16:13
Our Further Beliefs
The Nature of Sin and the Fallen World
We believe we live in a fallen world resulting from the acts of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Because of this rebellion, our world is corrupt and filled with sin. We believe that sin is not merely a choice but an inherent identity and state of being for those existing outside of God’s ecosystem. While this does not grant believers a reason to act irresponsibly, we acknowledge that sin entered the world and, as a result, we are fallen people in our flesh and humanity, redeemed only by Christ.
“Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned.” — Romans 5:12
The Primacy of Love
We believe that love is the highest calling of the believer and the defining characteristic of the Christian life. We choose to love people through whatever they are going through—regardless of their past or current struggles—so that their lives might be transformed to reflect the true identity of Christ. This love is not passive; it is a restorative force that seeks the best for others, offers grace in the midst of brokenness, and mirrors the unconditional love God has shown us. By walking in love, we provide a doorway for others to experience the healing and sanctifying power of God.
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one one another.” — John 13:34-35
“Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.” — 1 Peter 4:8
Marriage and the Family
We believe that marriage is a sacred institution established by God. We affirm the traditional belief system for the marriage of the nuclear family as the exclusive union between one man and one woman. This design is ordained by God for the well-being of society and the reflection of His covenantal love.
“Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” — Genesis 2:24
Divorce and Parenting
We believe God intends marriage to be a permanent covenant. While acknowledging human brokenness, we believe divorce is a departure from God’s original design and prioritize reconciliation whenever possible. Furthermore, we believe children are a blessing and that parents hold the primary responsibility to raise them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
“What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” — Matthew 19:6
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” — Proverbs 22:6
